Rear Wash Issue

I have been in the car today testing the functions of everything as the car is new to me, I have discovered I have no rear wash or wipe function also no headlight wash. I have checked the obvious first as in fuses and connections at pumps which are both brand new as just finished a facelift. Any suggestion would be welcomed as I don't want to miss something obvious. Thanks Mick

Can you hear the pumps running when you push the wiper stalk forward?

If you can then i'd start looking for blockages in the pipes. The rear is particularly bad for blocking since its rarely used.

If you can't then time to check fuses and pump motors.

Mike

the headlight washers will only work with the headlights on and something like every fifth squirt of the window wipers the headlights get a squirt.

if you open the upper tail gate you will see three 10mm from memory bolt heads, these secure the spoiler. then pull it rearwards, its like a key slot to actually remove it. be carefull as the camera wires are there and you need to only move it a bit and I usually turn it over onto the roof.

then you can get better access to the wiper. you need to get a pin and clear the two nozzles out, then ull the cap back to expose the water pipe, squirt the water and see if it comes out the pipe. if it does it was just blocked nozzles, if not there is info on here about non return valves etc which will be your next port of call. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

I had a little time today so did a bit test work on rear wiper. The correct feeds and switched earths are as they should be, I was surprised to find the rear washer pump is switched from the rear wiper motor I can only presume the motor or ecu is the problem.

I had no washer on the rear, but others were working. This is how I fixed mine:

Removed centre interior trim on upper tailgate, it just pulls off as it has metal spring clips. remove hose from lug going into motor, put hose in gutter and activate washer to make sure there is flow. If so the nozzle and interior of the wiper is clogged. I attached my car tyre inflator to the lug where the pipe went and turned it on, after only a second or so brown water and Censored came out of the wiper jet nozzle.

Refitted the hose, activated rear wash and hey presto it worked a treat Very Happy Thumbs Up 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts
