was it much of a job to fit the roof rack,how did it fair any problems.

Hi tolley.

Nene Overland fitted the roofrack. It was made by Hannibal and was actually the model for Disco 3. Was easy to bolt into L322 fixing points on roof.

Only problem was Nene only used 4 attachment points/brackets. I questioned it at the time but was assured it was okay. THey proved to be the only failure point on the entire journey. The roads in northern Kenya are incredibly rough and corrugated and after 250km both front attachment brackets broke! Luckily I found some angle iron and a small workshop and made my own supports. They didn't break for the rest of the journey

I've had a few recent requests to view the expedition website because the links I originally posted are no longer working. This is entirely the fault of Apple who discontinued the MobileMe service.

I was very interested to hear about your trip I'm very envious and would love to do something similar but would prefer to team up well done to you and thd TD6 I have one it's a great vehicle.

RRG got the balls we need to have and for once my wife agrees that we should do the same  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

An epic journey documented there...and one like Angel just said, wish we had the balls like RRG to do..

I've down slightly less impressive Jo'burg to Victoria Falls in a simple double-cab Toyota Hilux (with a covered back) and it was pretty straightforward, roads were good and the only thing we suffered was a puncture in the middle of the desert...! I'd recommend anyone thinking about it to do it... MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

a good long road trip is something most peeps would relish, alas mine are the occasional trip to the german xmas markets but we do plan to drive the alps next summer.......... ... - .- -.
