Bummer, new windscreen it is then

Stupid Censored in a blacked out Vauxhall wasn't paying attention and drifted against the side of the road on the Hogs Back and kicked up some stones. Caught the windscreen beautifully in the middle but low down. Definitely a replacement as it spreads out to ~3" in diameter.

Given previous threads here I'm going to see if I can pop down to Autoglass (insurance companies' "Windscreen help line" is Autoglass' Whistle) as they appear to have a mile or so from work.

I was meant to have mine done yesterday, but they turned up with a non pilkington one. I specified on the phone that I wanted a pilkington windscreen as well as the A Pillars changed. So sent them packing and to order a proper screen....!!!

My L405 suffered with a bad chip last week. Autoglass came out and repaired it but it was still visible from the inside. I had a "warranty" engineer come out and he agreed that a complete new screen was needed.

We discussed OE versus non OE and I threw in that LR would not honour any future warranty claims on the heated screen, rain sensor etc on a non OE screen, he agreed. I have to wait approximately 7 days for the new OE screen, result. Thumbs Up

Well spoke to Autoglass today and I've got to say fantastic service so far.

Took the vehicle details and then asked if I could go outside to confirm VIN and model number on the windscreen as they had two options available depending on the VIN. I'm guessing since mine was pretty close it must have coincided with the facelift in 07 as mine is an 07 TDV8. All confirmed and booked into the depot on Friday which was the soonest they could fit it in (I knew that from looking at their website).

So initial impressions are good - unfortunately I'm not going to be able to sit around watching them as I'll have to head back to work.
