United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black
Looking to buy a 2010 Facelift TDV8 - What to look out for..

Hi guys,

I was a Disco3 user and have recently had a 4.2 tdi q7 and currently a 911 (997 3.8 s). I am about to sell the Porker and get back into something sensible and prices of the 2010 facelift Vogue TDV8 have now entered my range. Can you please give me some ideas on what I should be looking out for (I will be taking an LR garage checker with me), the car I have seen is a 2010 TDV8 Vogue (standard spec) with 82k on it.

Thanks in advance, cannot wait to get back into an LR.

Miles

Thanks Stan, was there a link or just 'this section'? I read through the first 8 pages and didnt find anything specific to the 2010 facelift. Thanks in advance.

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

One thing the TDV8 engines can suffer from is Turbo and EGR issues. Before I got the 5.0 SC, I (almost) bought a TDV8 Vogue SE but on finding out that one of the turbos needed to be replaced my feet froze and I cancelled the purchase. That is when I found the 5.0 SC.

I know they are a bit more thirsty than the TDV8 but that is not a problem for me living in Malaysia. The SC engines though are virtually bullet proof. They have always been extremely good engines apart from a minor issue in its infant days (some valve chain tensioner issues with the original AJV-8 way before they started putting superchargers on) and I haven't found any issues with this engine yet.

With the TDV8 engines you do see issues from time to time and this forum of course acts as a magnifying glass for that. This could pull it out of context a bit in the sense that the actual percentage of issues with the turbos, hoses, EGRs could be a lot less in real life but still. It sounds to me if the EGRs get a regular service (or are blocked of or replaced by an improved version) the turbos should not have too hard a time. I just decided I didn't want to be bothered.

My short experience with the SC has been brilliant. Only done some 4000 kms (in one week) with it sofar as it is still in Europe and I'm back home in Malaysia but as my 2010 goes, it has not missed a beat. Every gadget on it works and works well. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
