Cheeky f+%^%g Sky TV!

I had a months free trial of sky movies and was told that as long as I cancelled before the end of the trial period, I wouldn't be charged. If not, it would be £16 a month extra.
I called them 3 days before and sure enough, the lady said there'd be no charge. So imagine my surprise this morning wen I see on my online banking statement, a charge of £59 instead of £43.
I called sky and was on the phone for 40 minutes trying to sort it out. The operator said it was sky's mistake but unfortunately, couldn't credit it back until next month. No way I said. He then tried to blame me for not reading my bill on the 11th of April where it apparently showed the new charge!
Undaunted, I continued and told them if it wasn't credited back in the next two days, to cancel it completely. He put me through to cancellations who authorised a credit of £16 within 3 days.

I wonder how many people overpay in this way, boosting Sky's bank account (with interest) for a month?

these free trails are a nightmare, if you dont cancel 30 days [i think] before the end of the trail date they will charge you ..
you're probably right that loads forget and get a big bill.. ... - .- -.

Amazon Prime is the same: worked out they had taken £150 over three years from me without me noticing Evil or Very Mad
They know its dodgy though, they gave me the money back the second I started to kick up a fuss, but how many people do you reckon don't realise!
Sky are very shifty with these things, remember trying to cancel Movies; it took a few attempts Mad

I have been a sky customer for over 14 years. I have had umpteen free trials and never had a problem. You must cancel within the time limits or yes, you get charged. Maybe happened twice to me.
I would say they have always been clear to me about cancellation timescales, and yes, it's about 30 days.
It's such a big company I suppose it just depends who you are lucky/unlucky enough to get on the end of the phone.

Anyway, noddy, you use 123movies, why bother with sky!! Wink Previously..
