Hi Bob, you may get lots of views and opinions on the subject of car engine oil. Alas much of the said opinion will be based on personal choice, brand loyalty, hearsay and most worryingly paranoia that if you don’t spend a king’s ransom on oil your car engine will blow up or fall apart...........
My view which is just a view but based my own research and many years of trouble free self service oil changes is just check the ACEA rating for your vehicle and match it to the oil you buy.
Your TD6 requires ACEA A3/B3 which is quoted on RAVE. The quoted RAVE API ratings have been superseded to SN/CF.
The last oil change I did cost me £25. I bought 2 x 5lt of Triple QX 5w40 rated at ACEA A3/B3/B4 SN/CF from a garage in Pevensey for £20 and the oil filter for £5 online.
This is how cheap you could get oil for if you choose and even with shipping cost to France makes it viable, hope this helps.............
