New discs and pads on RR S/C?

So. I'm thinking of getting new discs and pads all around on my RR 5.0 Supercharged -10.

My main dealer sent my a price quote of 2.272 GBP , but that included the handbrake caliper (or what's it called).

1.818 GBP for the parts and the rest for labour.

Well...

Is it a straight job changing disc and pads on my car? Nothing special compared to other cars? Range Rover SV Autobiography LWB 5.0 S/C -17

If you have any chance of doing it yourself or have a good indie then I suggest to do that. Buy the parts from Duckworth Dan and forget about that bloody dealer.

I remember an indie shop in Stockholm underneath the apartment/hotel we were staying at. Reason I remember is they were working on some pretty interesting cars, vintage Rolls and a new (Russian plated) Bentley Conti GT. !!!

The OP is talking about a 5.0 not the much cheaper braked 4.2 Whistle

The 5.0 has 6 pots on the front with 4 pads in, not "iddie biddie lickle 4 pot's" Laughing (like mine has by the way! don't shoot the joker)

Maybe Dan can dive in with the parts prices?

And the pins holding the pads in place are a right Censored if they were the same as the ones on the 4.4TDV8's.

Don't believe the hype of 'just tap out pins' that the 3.6 TDV8 and 4.2 SC's boys say.

I couldn't get them to budge but bent my drift and had to take it to an Indy who torched them to get them to move Neutral

Parts from Dan as you probably want OE for braking. Thumbs Up

Mine is getting PAGID pads today because couldn't get Lockheed and the OEMs are frightfully expensive without being better than the Lockheed and PAGID.

If they stick PAGID on the likes below, I'm happy to stick them on my 6 potters Smile Not that I intend to do a lot of braking of course, prefer to press the fun pedal a bit deeper Smile

Pagid has a strong history and earned its reputation with vehicle manufacturers like VW Group, DaimlerChrysler,Opel/Saab and Porsche.
Through the years a philosophy of quality and performance has ensured Pagid has evolved into the choice of vehicle manufacturers globally.
Pagid's reputation for high performance friction is substantiated by O.E. approvals with:
· Audi S4, S6, RS 6, TT, Q7
· Mercedes C-Class, SLR
· Opel Vectra OPC
· Lamborghini Murcielago
· Aston Martin Vanquish
· VW Phaeton, Touareg
· Porsche 997 GT3 RS, Cayenne
Leading the field in both O.E. and aftermarket friction development, Pagid is working in partnership with the world's leading brake and vehicles manufacturers for high performance cars. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thank you all for your comments... I don't mind a main dealer earning a few bucks, but this is too much of a difference for me.
