All sorted thanks to help on the forum…

Having undone the internal bolts with my toolkit beautifully laid out in the boot and removed the rear spoiler from the roof to take the rear wiper motor off, with the rear tailgate now shut, quickly realised that I had clearly opened the boot only with the remote and locked my only key in the boot Big Cry

I can see it through the window (thankfully it is in the garage and only a weekend toy).

1. I need a spare anyway, can I just order a new spare key from the main dealer and bale myself out this way. Cost / normal lead time?

2. Is there any way in through the rear that anyone can PM me that does not involve smashing glass etc?

I have called my breakdown service and they do not cover this.

Many thanks guys, off for a bottle of wine at the pub to drown my sorrows Embarassed 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

Decent locksmith ?

The dealer should be able to cut you a key but the alarm will sound when you open the lock, obviously.

Not gonna be cheap though.

I think the key coding procedure is on the internet, if not on here, if you fancy doing it yourself.

Do you have any paperwork with your key code on, as a decent locksmith should be able to cut it to code from a blank......

If you have the rear spoiler off does that not mean the top tailgate hinges and bolts are visible and therefore accessible?
If so, can you not just undo the hinge bolts and move the top of the tailgate back enough to give you access to the boot of the car.
Never tried this but it does seem feasible. Whistle Smile

Both really good suggestions thank you. Will try in the morning without the fog of the wine consumed to mask the embarrassment!

Any thoughts on the new key suggestion??

Edited to add - just been out to look and there seems to be torque bolts accessible at the top under the spoiler. Maybe a really good possibility thanks Thumbs Up 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I thought your main dealer could cut you a new key from the VIN

Can't be cheap, but having a spare key is always a good idea

I'd get a new key cut but maybe get it charging up thru a tow socket if possible while you wait a week for the key to turn up.

There is a way that the boot can be popped open i believe by cutting into part of the cars loom but i wouldn't recommend it unless your in a rush to get in.

A key cut from the dealer will get you in and then you can use your key in the boot to turn the alarm off.

Get into car, get key, lock car with button on fob of OLD key and then unlock and alarm problem sorted. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I picked up a spare flip key for my 2008 TDV8 for £147 plus £50 for coding to the car.

They need to copy your vin and see your licence.

Thank you so much again for taking the time to think it through - it worked a treat - undoing the hinges opened the top just enough to use a coat hanger to lift the keys Bow down 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

Another miracle. Thumbs Up
Now try and get them out if the spoiler is still in place. Laughing

Excellent news.

Just need to get yourself a spare key now, or run without the spoiler on......
