Ok so I have been considering changing from my 4.4V8 Petrol to a late model (62 plate Westminster) L322 and have just driven the TDV8 Westminster L322 and a 63 plate L405 TDV8 - question to those of you with either - do you get used to the (ever so ) slight lag when pulling away when compared to the instant gratification of a petrol V8?

[Should really say how impressed I was with the TDV8 engine and 8 speed box - very nice indeed] "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Yes, you get used to it - just stamp your foot and go! Once did it too harsh and scared myself with all 4 Pirelli's spinning

A remap helps with this iirc and there have been TSB's for similar issues with other LR vehicles.

Failing that and you have the cash, get the SC 2012 L322 and the money saved over the 405 can pay the fuel bill off a little. Also the SC's are cheaper to start with and have a lot more toys as standard Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

For having owned a 3.6 TDV8, I feel that the turbo lag is annoying at low speed, once on the move like on the motorway, it is much better. The petrol Range Rovers have instant throttle response without lag at any speed and in general have a more refined power delivery.

You do get used to it, that said there are times when it irritates you. If you are a massive petrolhead I would say supercharged is better but then I am not paying your fuel bills so easy enough to say without footing the cost difference.

It is the first diesel car I have ever had, all my other Range Rovers were petrol but I have got used to it and it is an impressive engine. I just could not ignore the double mileage difference even with the extra cost of diesel. My driving style got me 12 in a supercharged and I get 25 in the TDV8. 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 TDV8

+1 and you were lucky to get 12, I have both petrol and a 4.4 V8 diesel and the petrol returns 10 Shocked
