MY06 S/C Rear Brake Swap. Something I noticed

Hi all,

Swapped the discs and pads yesterday along with Handbrake shoes. I didn't get any pics really as I was quite up against it time wise, and had three dogs making life difficult (still haven't found the 1/2" brush I use for Copper Grease!)

One thing I did notice was that the spring clips that hold the pads in place had significant dust/corrosion build up underneath which, until removed prevented new clips and pads going in- I wonder if this is the cause of the famous seized calipers we all experience from time to time?

Aside from this (cleaned with a file) all came apart quite easily, I also noted that my brake lines are ready for a swap- will do this when I get a chance as I wanted to swap the front pads and change the brake fluid too- I will do a write up on this in case anyone is interested.

Finally my Top hub mount bush is well on the way to being shot. I have to swap front suspension arms and track rod ends, so will add this to the list before I get a 4 wheel alignment done.

Does anyone here know anywhere I can hire a bush pulling kit? I've seen some online for £160-200 ish, but once I do these bushes there won't be any old ones left, I'd rather pay to hire one for a week..

Steve

Thumbs Up
