Parrot 3200 install

Before I re-invent the wheel I thought I'd ask if anyone has installed a Parrot 3200 in the Vogue.
I currently have a Gen 5 bluetooth ulf that is not compatible with my new phone (Motorola Moto G). Until I find a compatible ulf at a reasonable cost, I thought I'd install a Parrot 3200 as I already have one hanging round.

I was hoping to use the existing mic and install the blue box in the LH rear compartment and extend the screen wiring to the dash. Any comment would be great, otherwise I'll try and document things as I go along. 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue

I recently contacted Parrott UK Technical Team as I had some questions about an installation I was doing on my wife's car.

They are really helpful and knowledgeable (they are guys who have installed these out in the field at the sharp end so they have lots of helpful advice). If you go on the Parrott website you can get the number, you will also see that the FF is not confirmed as compatible.

Funnily enough I'd been thinking whether the MKi9000 would be a good solution for those without an Aux socket and wanting an iPod solution......

Let us know how you get on. 2006 4.2 SC

We have a company install ours but i do remember A, the iPod Parrot kit could not be installed in the rear left corner for some reason? Rolling Eyes And B, when they install ordinary bluetooth kits for us, there is a dedicated piece of loom behind the L.H. wood panel next to the heater controls (passengers right knee panel) which has un-ampified speaker wires in (a must when installing phone kits apparently) and no need to run wires to the boot either Thumbs Up

Re: Parrot 3200 install

Parrot... don't bother. An unmitigated piece of Censored . Had a kit professionally fitted to my 2003 FFRR. It works when it wants to. The phone sound comes from the speakers but you have to wack the volume up to full tilt to hear it which is great when the call ends because if you don't turn it down quick enough......
The iPod connection is pointless as it to struggles to work with the command tool that comes with the kit and the screen for my kit , the Parrot Mki9100 is so small and dark it's unreadable unless you can mount in 12 inches from your eyeball.

Davek - Not sure why your Parrot kit is not working well, but I've had the 3200 in 4 different cars (one a rag top) and they have all worked very well. I've never put one in a FF so I'll post how I get on. Will probably start having a look at it tomorrow. 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue

I'm still planning on putting the 3200 in my 02 FF.
It'll be interesting to see how you get on.

Think it's something to do with the Parrot kit being unable to cope with the standard sat nav/entertainment system fitted as standard to the Rangie. The firm that fitted it made claims that it just doesn't live up to. Save your money !

No money involved I have a few spare Parrot kits hanging about so I'll give it a go. It's bound to be better than the Gen 5 ulf that I've got at the moment. That doesn't work at all with my phone. I have to use an old phone just to "please" the stupid ulf. 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue

I put a parrot kit in mine works perfectly fine but it's not intergrated into the stereo at all.
Separate mic fitted near overhead light unit.
Speaker in the centre of the dash used for parrot only.
Speaker disconnected from stereo system, not really a music buff so not bothered about the loss of one speaker

Another Parrot 3200 in my FF, works fine with me Mr. Green .
I have had no problems with it. I didn't install the parrot as it was fitted when I picked the FF up so guessing the previous owner had problems with the factory fit phone system.
I have since taken out the brick of a phone out of the cubby box and now have a little more room for my phone to sit there Very Happy If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

You obviously have never seen just how antiquated the early phone systems were Whistle Whistle Whistle

Had to put a sim card in the car for that phone to work Shocked

That'll be why yours has a Parrot sir Thumbs Up

Just thought I'd chip in - I've got the Parrot 9200i. A wonderful bit of kit - the volumes that Dave mentions can be easily sorted by selecting the level using the parrot rotary controller.

I use it all the time in the car to listen to music, originally from an iPhone and now from Android phone. It just works perfectly all the time.

If it's not working correctly, then it's been installed wrong somewhere down the line. I've had the same model 9200i fitted in 4 different Range Rovers - including the current FF with DSP - and it's something I'd never be without - when I get in a car without the functionality of the Parrot it feels like I've gone back in time. even newer cars fitted with all the bluetooth bells and whistles don't seem to work half as well as the Parrot.

OK - did a few tests today and found the following

The mic in the car works fine with the parrot, I just ignored the shield and connected the other two mic wires to the parrot and the mic volume seemed fine. Wires on old 54 pin connector - 52 and 54

The mute from the parrot does indeed mute the radio in the car by connecting the parrot mute wire directrly to the mute line. Wire on the old 54 pin connector - 29

The line output on the parrot is too low level for the input on the car. Wires on the old 54 pin connector 17 and 18

I had a quick try connecting the high level output of the Parrot to the same wires and the levels appear to be much better but I need to do some more checks another day. 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue
