Mick-ne, many thanks for the offer, Cam-Tech-Craig is getting me sorted, so should be okay, but will keep you in mind if there's any complications.

It was a case of 'Kamikazi Chicken' on the pheasant's part. As it happened on a very narrow section of a B-road, there was no way I could have swerved to avoid it. The weird thing was that at first it was flying as if it was going to pass me (like the bit in 'Top Gun' when the fighter planes go past each other), then at almost the last second it veered straight at me, folded in its wings and hit smack bang (and what a bang!!) head-on into my headlight. I had to pull over 100 yards up the road where there was a little layby and extricate the bird from my light housing!!
