Bird Strike Blues!!

Encountered a kamikazi pheasant on the way in to work this morning... Censored Censored Shocked

Totally wrecked the driver's side xenon headlight unit, bust the wiper arm and damaged the sidelight unit and electrical connection for the sidelight. Big Cry Big Cry

Now need to get the bits replaced in a big hurry, as car needed for work next week. Having to use SWMBO's ST220, it's too fast for me and it's got a manual gearbox (clutch in...then change gear...crunch, grind, stall, Censored !!).

Got pics of the mess, but can't seem to upload them.

Am going to PM Cam-Tech-Craig, to see if I can get the required bits off him. I hope you can help sir!! Bow down Bow down Bow down

If it's going to cost you a fortune - possible insurance claim?

Pheasants are ALWAYS Kamikaze, especially the Males Twisted Evil

Around here in mid Wales there are that many of them they hunt in packs Twisted Evil

The worst thing about the Censored things is that they always take off at the last minute - if they stayed on the ground they would either run clear, or meet their maker quicly under the tyres of a c2.5 ton vehicle.

I had one total the windscreen in my Defender just before Christmas - had the screen replaced as an insurance job (£50 excess Sad |) then wrote the poor Defender off on black ice at 3am Boxing day morning Big Cry ( at least the new windscreen stayed in one piece Rolling with laughter - pics will follow i.d.c.

Then got my FF Very Happy Very Happy

Best of luck Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

It was a case of 'Kamikazi Chicken' on the pheasant's part. As it happened on a very narrow section of a B-road, there was no way I could have swerved to avoid it. The weird thing was that at first it was flying as if it was going to pass me (like the bit in 'Top Gun' when the fighter planes go past each other), then at almost the last second it veered straight at me, folded in its wings and hit smack bang (and what a Censored bang!!) head-on into my headlight. I had to pull over 100 yards up the road where there was a little layby and extricate the bird from my light housing!!

Totally bizarre behaviour!! Don't know what the bird was thinking prior to the impact, but I do know that the last thing that went through its mind.....was its arsehole. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
