What do we think now of the car we must not talk about

Hi All,

I am quite scared to post this and its like loving the devil on here HOWEVER
I have to say the new range rover sport is utterly gorgeous and I have only ever see and read good things about it.

Has there been anyone on here who has went to purchase a L405 and purchased a sport instead. Own up! lol

The D5 (D4 replacement) will share the platform too next yr apparently Whistle

If i walked into a JLR dealer with enough in my pocket to buy a new 405, i would be able to justify (find a reason) for buying the New Sport "for the wife" too Whistle

I noticed on the configurator the other day they are now offered with the 4.4 TDV8 too.

The Supercharged one with all the kit and a few options is about £93k though now Shocked

Hi Yeah thats right - I seen the 4.4 too.

I think if I was to ever get a sport it would need to be the 5.0.
What I was shocked to see is on autotrader the 20 odd 5.0 for sale are 90% grey!

Nice colour but no idea why other colours so rare on the ground.

That's because the 20 odd ones you see are all pretty much dealer demos. When they were released every dealer had the option of a 5.0 Sport (4.4d not available then) and they were all delivered in close succession. With rules about how long demos can be run by the dealership etc you get this little lot appearing.

And of the 2 I would have the diesel. Yes, shock/horror. Me, a log burner hater would take it on the basis that it's actually just like driving a charger, less power, more torque = same 0-60 time but uses half the fuel.

The 7 seat one I saw though was definitely a 5+2. I couldn't squeeze my lardy backside in the 2 rearmost seats in any kind of comfort. Definitely kids or shorties only.

And yes, for the average of about 20 grand less than the 405 spec for spec I would take the Sport.

I quite like the Chille Red...

Saw one in the flesh the other day and it was a really unusual colour that I thought it looked great in Smile

It's a much better car than the old one but: -

a) Seeing them both together at the motor show the distinction between the two seemed much bigger than the previous models. The new RR really does look very stately.

b) They still have the same customers. Ner Ner *

* b) was meant in jest. Smile

I see another potential problem... The new RR is sharing this forum just now with the L322... But it has nothing in common with the L322 and probably has the same systems as the new RRS. It would make more sense to have a joint L405/RRS forum.... I too think the sport is a great car. I have driven 3 now and think it is a viable alternative to the fatty. Previously..

Exactly! I think LR have deviated from the plan a bit over the past 6-8 years and the various models are sharing too many design elements and loosing their respective individuality.

Nice cars but I just can't get excited about them.

Cheers
