I feel for you rosco. I too am a rider of horseflesh but luckily have a bomb-proof 19 yr old thoro. However I am appalled at the Censored driving of most people, largely down to poor training/knowledge - if they knew better they wouldn't do it. I blame BSM.

However I do find most cyclists around here (I live on the Cotswold way) are very good about approaching a horse from the rear (largely cos they are unsure about how 500kg of horseflesh on their handlebars will affect handling) and slow down adm pass wide. If only cars would,do the same at 15mph instead of 45mph!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I read this thread and only decided to post when the finger was pointed at "most drivers" as that must include the majority of people who, for example, are on this forum. It's a minority as ever that cause the problem. I'm a cyclist and on any given ride hundreds of cars pass me and I don't notice them- its only one or two that do it in a dangerous or inconsiderate manner that I notice. Very Happy Geoff

As a horse rider I am confused why you would want to wear headphones...apart from the apparent lack of awareness surely the whole point of hacking is to 'get away' from the hustle and bustle of normal life and enjoy the countryside for what it is; peace and quiet with the sound of hooves and the countryside without raging music blaring in your ears....

I might sound old and boring...but im only 28 and this really bugs me! 2011 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography

It's not the activity, it's ignorant morons engaging in them. There are still (unbelievably) 2 brain cell idiots in 4x4's trying to drive the Plains despite more than a few flood warnings and clear signage stating certain parts are closed.

Sadly all the health and safety has prevented the Darwin process from following its natural course over the the last 3 or 4 decades; this is the result. Cyclists who think they are invincible, horse riders who don't think about where they're riding, car drivers who don't give a sh*t for either and a general "me first" attitude.

Like I said, not the activity, the brain dead morons partaking in it. Not all are the same. There are good people everywhere too, you just also have to put up with the bad as well.

Our horses seem have no problem with cyclists [a lot of them over here], if fact we use a cycle for confidence when taking the young ones out on there own.

They have been on a binge in Manchester ( the 5-0 i mean) as the centre is prolific with cyclists with headphones in turned way up Evil or Very Mad

Fair do's i wear mine when riding but i have the volume really low as i like to know whats going to try and run me over on styal road as its very narrow at a lot of points you invaribly hold up some traffic much to their annoyance.
Also keeps the water from getting in my ears Very Happy but volume should be at a very low level i also tend to just have TWIT podcasts on instead of music, learn while you ride and all, which helps Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
