England 2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver
AMG C63

I had an AMG session at Mercedes World recently and must say i was really impressed with the C63.

It comes in Saloon or Estate so is a practical family car and with an auto box, yet has over 450bhp from its 6.2litre V8, bags of torque, does 0-60 in 4.5seconds, fantastic fade free brakes, 0-60-0 in less than 8 seconds, very low depreciation, 20 MPG and looks understated and classy when compared with M3s and the like & great value for around £50,000 IMHO. Must say i could have ordered one. The Guy said the engine will be in the NEW E class convertible which means 4 seats and no roof!!! Cool summer car!!

United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Corris Grey

Having run several Mercs, including an E Class AMG55 estate and an E500 I can honestly say I hope never to own one again. Just in case anyone's under any impressions that Range Rovers are expensive to run, well go run a Merc and you'll begin to understand the meaning of "Expensive"

Nice when they're going, awfully expensive when going wrong. Crucifyingly so. They also seem to depreciate faster than a secondhand ice cream as well.

Nice indeed, when someone else is picking up the tab. Thumbs Up

I know a couple of people who went over to FFRRs because the Mercs were too unreliable! Laughing

I know about Mercs issues as many family members and friends run Mercss but i was just saying that the overall performance and package of a NEW C63 in particular was appealling and my understanding is that over the last 2 years things have improved on NEW mercs etc

Oh I agree with you, it's a really nice package, just as long as someone else pays the bills.

The main issue Mercedes had is their association with Chrysler which saw build quality drop through the floor. The last properly built Merc was the W126 until the recent drive to sort the issues. Thankfully they're no longer associated with Chrysler so we might be seeing some better made motors in the future.

Of course, if you ask a Merc purist they will tell you that Mercedes starts with an 'E' but the new C class seems to be more in line with the Merc aura rather than just being a model to help bolster profits. The A and B class remain imposters though and are both nastier than an Austin Allegro, yet perversely it was these models which saved Merc form certain bankruptcy.

I could still find quite a lot of metal to spend 50 grand on before I got to a Merc though.
