Insurance Help - US Import

Looking for some help for a friend of mine if someone has a solution.

He has recently imported his wife’s Mustang from the USA to the UK and it has just passed the SVA test etc… and is waiting to be registered in the UK. The problem is that the car was registered in his wife’s name in the US and therefore to save paying VAT he needs to register in her name in the UK. The car is currently insured in his name so that it was covered while on his drive and to drive to the SVA and MOT centres as his wife only has a provisional UK licence but a full US & Dubai licence which allows her to drive a rental car but not her own vehicles. To get the Mustang UK registered he needs to show insurance with his wife as the owner (she will not be driving the Mustang until she passes her UK test).

Key details:
Vehicle 2012 5.0 Mustang GT
Him: UK Citizen & resident with residency in UAE and work permit in the USA (lives between all three) full UK, US and UAE driving licence
Her: UK Citizen & resident in the UK but still holds UAE residency and USA visa (lives full time in UK with kids), full US & UAE driving licence, provisional UK driving licence, no need to drive the Mustang
Car currently in UK, customs cleared and passed all SVA tests awaiting UK registration

Anyone know if it is even possible to get a policy which shows his wife as the owner/policyholder but not driving the car and him as the main/named driver or know where to start. Currently insured with Adrian Flux but they say they cannot change the ownership/policy holder as his wife is not a driver.

Any help appreciated There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

It is possible to specify that the policy holder is not the owner, i do that on the mrs car, whch is in her name, but the policy is in my name, she is a named driver on it,

I would think that it should be possible. The wifeys car is insured with axa online. Should he possible to specify the hubby as the policy holder and specify her as a named provisional driver and keeper.

She would need to be on the policy afaik but as she has a provisional license she can be added as a learner. Like you would when you buy a car for a 17 year old learning to drive.

The main driver doesnt have to be the policy holder just has to be specified who is the main driver. So it may also be possible to specify her as the policy holder and keeper as a learner with him as main driver. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
