Looking for some additional reversing lights and wondered what these might be like. Also can you link into the towbar wiring rather than trying to get wires into the car and associated potential leakage problems:

There's no problem getting two 5A cables into the boot area. Just drill two 1mm holes in the large rubber grommet that the tow electrics go thro into the boot and push the 5A cables thro. The holes are tight enough to form a water proof seal.
Drill the holes from inside the boot it's easier.
You can then run the cables to connect with the reverse light circuit in the rear drivers side compartment and the earth point at the rear of the boot floor.
I wired mine using two relays wired with the contacts in series, one relay switched from the reverse light circuit and one from the side light circuit.
This means in daylight only the original reverse lights come on as normal but when the sidelights are switched on the additional reverse lights also come on.
These are the LED lights I used, purchased from a local motor factor. Mounting brackets are purpose made.
The lights are very effective and produce good rearwards vision even in total darkness.
Handy when there is no street lighting.

I'd want these deployable like the side steps. Would be cool. Could have loads of lights then, as you'd not normally see them. Prob can't be done.

I did try and fit some cree led bulbs into the existing lights to make them brighter, but did not have any success as the bulbs were too long for the light unit so had to send them back. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

^ There would in fact be room underneath to tip the lights upwards towards the front of the car when not in use if they were mounted on spring loaded stainless steel hinges instead of fixed rigidly like mine.
The lights would then be totally hidden when not in use.
I think a simple bowden cable link into the boot connected to a small 90deg motion wiper motor mounted in the wheel space at the rear of the car would work. Motor energised to drop the lights when switched on.
At a pinch you could mount the motor behind the rear skirt.
You are obviously more descirning than me.
