Should the car not "go to sleep" as it were, after a day or so, leaving minimum systems alive ?

My solar panel wont do any charging in the front fag lighter only when i connect it to the rear boot charger does it charge. |

Just to expand on this, if you have a 020 battery, about 100Ah, this will last for 83 days until fully discharged. Doing that would kill the battery so I would recommend a reasonable safe limit of 50% capacity, so about 5-6 weeks of no use should be fine and I would consider a reasonable maximum before a charge. If you are not confident about your battery staying the course when away there is a way round this which might be of use.

Why not just have the second battery in the boot and use it to jump start the car if the fitted battery is flat.
