Ideas on valuation

Hi, I have a friend who is selling a 2008 FFRR Vogue with appx 60,000 miles which he just offered me, it's a nice car but nothing to differentiate it from any other and not my pref spec but at least its a nice car and i know it.

My question is what should I think it terms of price? (I think he is being a little hopeful with his first attempt)

My ultimate spec is a 2010 or later Vogue SE with RSE, black with light interior and 20" (style 17) wheels and FBH, ideally with 50,000 or less miles. What sort of money should I have in hand for one of those?

Thanks for your help on ether valuation!

Re: Ideas on valuation

Unnecessary quote removed

This is exactly what I was looking for just before Xmas

Apart from the fact there were very few on the market ( a lot of the approved LR cars were actually sold even though they were still showing)

From memory Vogues ranged from £34 - £37K with SE s + £1k or so . RSE cars were few and far between

Also found official cars with warranty were no more expensive than a lot of traders

That's a fab service Gary thank you, my hunch was that he had been bid a max of £20/- against a year old latest shape one, and his first offer to me is £27,750 so north of the franchised dealer price you mentioned.

I was trying gauge how much more than the £27,750 he asked for I would need to add to buy my ultimate spec car.

I would be keen his at £20,000 may pay a little more because I know it but it would always be a compromise in my head so I certainly would not want to pay top money for it, might just as well spend the extra and get the car I really want with the later front end and the RSE/FBH etc.

Once I get into 2010 territory is there a spec or MY I should aim for on the "buy the right thing first time theory?" Can't afford what I see 2012's going for and am scared to ask about 2011/2011.5 model changes for fear of opening a can or worms but is there anything post a 2010 with Brembos and my spec that I should be aware of?

So 73vsa, I'd love to know what you settled on with as much detail as you are prepared to go into, that would be great feedback. PM if you prefer 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

27,750 is massively steep for a 08 car on a private sale....... Even from a mate😜 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Interesting, that franchised dealer price for 3.6 TDV8 is about the same as a similar main dealer MY 4.4 TDV8. The 4.4 has to be the better car, isn't it?

It's a no brainer then at that price level, looks like the 3.6 price is overly optimistic.

I spent ages trawling through the official LR website last night and am gobsmacked to see how many "library" pictures get reused for completely different cars, there must be 6/7 cars advertised using a front 3/4 drivers side picture of a 2010 (I think) car in Black with Ivory interior - the picture has wooden fencing in the background and when you view them the cars range from a 3.6 TDV8 through 4.4 to 5.0SC and at least half of them have vlack (jet) interiors rather than light (Ivory)!

There are clearly some 4.4's advertised at or near the prices of some 3.6's too.

Good news for people like Gaz!

Where apart from here, Gary and LR website should I look? 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

This main dealer facelifted 3.6 TDV8 looks great value and even with 66000 miles appears to be well behind the book dealer price compared against Gaz's Gap price for a 10/10 car with 60000 miles.

I rather like this and it has my perfect colour and interior combination.
