Hi,

The front wipers make that thunk noise to the top right hand of the windscreen each time they make a pass.

Aside to that I've no issues. My brother in law drove the car over the weekend and noticed that when in use the driver's side wiper blade leaves a thin arc water line, right where the middle part of the blade has passed over, as though it is doing nothing on that part of the glass. He says they need to be changed (I had thought they were ok until then). As for the thin arc wate line, do they "all do that sir"?

If changing, what's the best way to go, genuine LR or these Bosch 808's @ £16 delivered?

Ryan, I also had / have the THUNK on the top right of the screen.

My first thought was to change the wiper blades, so new Bosch ones fitted recently. Easy job.

However, I still get the THUNK, but only above 70mph. Drives me nuts sometimes as I rarely use the stereo and rather like the silence, isolation and serenity of a FF's interior at speed.

I don't get a thin arc water line.

I got the thunk too & changed the blades for Bosch to no avail. Put up with it for months. I then changed the wee plastic piece that connects the bade to the arm (available from Dan, a couple of pounds ) Problem solved.

I think you can also adjust the angle of the blade to the glass which helps with the noise, I'm pretty sure there is a guide in another post on how to do this

Found this older, helpful related thread with tips off forum experts including how to remove/ refurb wiper arms and how to pinch 808's to stop the thud.

The moral of the story seems to be to buy a pair of £16 Bosch 808's and first try them before fiddling with bits, pieces and existing wiper blade angles. Very good

808's arrived on Friday and fitted yesterday (easy 2 minute job).

Verdict? On taking off the old wiper blades, they looked old and battered much to my surprise (bought as an A.U car only last April I naively thought they'd probably have been replaced pre sale). Presume they were not genuine LR either as they had no manufacturer's stamp, the only stamp anywhere on them both being " 32/07 "... And maybe as opposed to soft LR windscreen glass theories maybe poor quality/ expended wiper blades were the reason I had to spend so much time last year machine polishing out a lot of windscreen scratches!

Bosch 808's? Superb. Silently glide across the screen leaving crystal clear glass and no thuds, thumps or thunks whatsoever. For £15.99 delivered within a couple of days it's a change them every 12 months no brainer.
