resetting mpg clock with new stereo

Hi Guys,

i have owned my first 2004 FFRR vogue l322 for about 2 months now. I bought it as i needed a big boot for the new baby with the buggie travel cot etc and to be able to fit my girlfriends wheel chair in. I love the car but being 10 years old it needed a bit of an update. I had an audio upgrade, with a Pioneer avh-x3500dab installed with new amp etc. and after reading the egr posts and ecu remap will def be getting this done as it's showing i'm only getting 18mpg and i'm not a heavy footed driver. The mpg clock has not been reset since i bought it. Is there any way i can reset the mpg now that the original head unit is not there (nor is the BM54). Also i would greatly appreciate any tips you have on keeping fuel consumption down and costs down really as a whole? Thanks for your time and this website is the best! Bow down

Battery disconnect is the only way! It also resets the analogue clock to 12.00 so worth reconnecting at exactly midday;) 2004 range rover vogue

Remember to follow the correct procedure of disconnecting the battery! Then at 12 on the dot reconnect! Although this method will not show the time on the dash if original stereo has been removed! 2004 range rover vogue

To save the faff, get hold of an old (working) MID from the Bay of E and have it installed in the glovebox in place of the CD changer. I did this in my last car to retain full functionality.

Not mine but the installation is similar….

I know about this way to do it, but how/where to you plug the MID to.

I had the non touch screen GPS type unit on the 2003, it has been replaced prior to my ownership, so i am not sure what to plug it to and if there is enough cable to do so to relocate it in the glovebox.

Thanks in advance. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

When mine was done, there was enough cable to stretch. I'm sure one could be made up if required anyway. Yes, MID works independently. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Mines under speaker cover top of the dash make the slot to the side bigger and just plug in when you need it to change the time _____________________________________________________

No, the IIDTool can not do this. It would actually be quite easy to add the bordcomputer functions to the IIDTool - maybe we should...

SATVC wrote:

Yes. All it needs is power, gnd, and an i-bus connection.

SATVC, you have a TD6 - park heat is not activated? You would need either an MID or a remote to make park heat function, tho.

Hi VD,
You need to get the piles of electronics you have in the back of your RR sorted. IMO, aftermarket stereos do not look good (or function well) in a RR. And yours is a collector's car - it needs to go back to OEM!

You can do quite a bit with the original satnav to make it function more like a modern unit. It's just a little more expensive than simply buying an aftermarket doubleDIN and hacking it in. But overall with all things considered including vehicle integration, there is no substitute. IMHO. Cool

Here is a pic of what a MKIV nav (which you already have, VD) can look like.
