NO DSP !!!!! ffs

Couldn't behave itself for long lol, went to pick up daughter from school, 10 mile round trip, started fine today with no hdc warning on start up, which I have had a couple of times in the cold weather, although I had only done short runs, did have a high tickover a few weeks ago too, am working on the theory that a may need a new battery soon, its a 2003 4.4 v8, in the past few months I have had 2 occasions when the dsp did the 30 sec then off, switch off, back on 30 sec the off again, and also had the dsp on the display grey out a few times, anyway, today stereo/dsp fine on the way there, park, get daughter, nip into shop, come out drive off, dsp greyed out, no sound etc, get home switch off lock up, go out 30 mins later, and dsp has completely gone from display, other signs and symtoms I have had are the screen staying blank/black on start up on cold days, for a good few minutes, then appears and all is fine, but as we stand, no dsp, and no orange light on the on/off button, have done some reading this evening, and tomorrow will investigate water ingress, also check the fuses, try the fuse 49 and check fuse 8 and also the one on the amp socket, also check the connections for blue/green corrosion, does the battery disconnect clear any faults with regard to the dsp, another point to note although I have no idea if its connected, I have never had the info display on the dash from the stalk, pressing it for the 10/15 secs to bring up the menu has never worked on mine for trip computer display, it all works on the screen but not on the dash, it will show sport mode, key in ign, door open, cd track, but no trip display, when the towbar was fitted, I did notice that there was a little dampness in the wheel well, it look a bit like condensation, but wasn't sure if this has come in with the crap design where when you open the top tailgate water runs/drips into the boot, I did check the lh cubby at the time and dried the well area, but cubby area appear to be all dry, any further advice appreciated, will try and have a look see tomorrow, if not Friday, if the dsp is goosed, im tempted to go for an aftermarket unit with I phone connectivity and sat nav etc, as I never use the sat nav as its twack and always take my tomtom, oh and I have the phone kit fitted [brick in center armrest] but never use that, not even sure if it works although the phone powers up, and obviously no tv as its anologue
hey ho, cheers for now Hammie 2003 ffrr v8 vogue

Well had a quick look today, checked boot area, no dampness or water, tried to pull off the plugs to the dsp but failed , couldn't figure out how the plugs came off and didn't want to break anything, there was a slidy bar on the big plug, which I slid across but plug didn't budge, [plus it was bloody cold and didn't have my glasses and could have done with a torch too]
so I gave them all a wiggle and push, removed fuse 49 and replaced it, [could hear cd changer making noises when I did this] and then turned ign on and started car, all appears to work again now????, will investigate further when its and my hands are not so cold, no low battery hdc warning indication on dash at start uo either, will be going for a 40mile round trip a bit later so hopefully that will give the battery a boost too
cheers hammie 2003 ffrr v8 vogue

Try switching the radio on then wiggling each of the speaker plugs , the smaller 2 of the 3 plugs, and see if the radio goes off at all then comes back on. Sounds like a bad connection in one of the plugs, probably the front one. Thumbs Up
