Quick question for the Yoda's of the forum (Cam tech I'm looking at you!)
Are the 02-06 td6 and V8 fuel tanks the same?
If I bought a V8 one would it work in my TD6 if I swapped all the gubbins over?
The reason I ask is after replacing the tank pump at Xmas we noticed there's a lot of gunge in the bottom of the tank.
Obviously after dropping the tank and jet washing it all out it would need to dry out for a few days. So in a bid to do it in a day a second hand tank is required. The plan is to clean it out ahead of time then just swap them over. I can then clean my one out and punt it on.
For some reason though the td6 tanks seem to go for around 3 times the price of the V8 ones!!
They look very similar.
Any help greatly received.

i'd look at the ancillaries for each tank and if they are the same then the tanks must be..

Have a look on the microcat at the part numbers, there seems to be slightly different part no depending on vin between different td6 but they seem to correspond to the same vin changes in the v8 as well have a look and you will see what I mean

Im pretty sure the tanks are the same.

Once the tank is off the car and jet washed just pour very hot water into the tank as the final flush and then get a towel out and dry it out.
Any tin remains of water in the tank will be dropped out by the diesel anyway(there is a water trap in the system) and wont affect the running of the car. Just prime the fuel system a few times before cranking it over. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yes is for a td6 mine used to breakdown with 100 miles left due to pumps so stripped it down and swapped them over
Would take £20 +pp unless you want to arrange your own courier
