tdv8 vibration

2010 tdv8 with 55k miles

doing around 50-70 at part throttle and take foot off the accelerator to coast, there is a vibration which last about 1-2 seconds and it seems to be reducing over that period like an oscillation being damped i.e the magnitude reduces progressively. also, when the car is stationary (so no involvement of axles etc) & the engine is turned off there is a slight vibration as the engine stops. also, sometimes when taking up the drive from coasting there is a pronounced clonk.

I'm thinking engine mounts does this sound like a reasonable? easy job to check?

well no ideas?

a pal suggested that to test the engine mounts, put the car in gear with foot hard on brakes and press accelerator listening for clocks, fwd then reverse. tried that and no clonks at all. maybe that rules out engine mounts?

Scotland 2005 Range Rover Autobiography Td6 Java Black

Hi Dexion, I had the same on my TD6, I initialy thought it was wheel balance it would happen at 50 to 60 then go away. It would also vibrate and judder forward when stopped at the lights when in drive and the foot on the brake. It turned out in my case to be the auto gearbox the GM unit packed in at 90K. I just picked it back up today and it is running like new , no vibration, no juddering. Hopefully this is not what is up with your RR and it is something simple like a warped wheel or wheel balance.

The other issue I had was a clunking noise when braking which was partly due to the suspension arms on the front left side. It still happens but not as much so it could now be the right hand side needing it done. Big Cry Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black. Range Rover now sold.

thanks for the reply.

my car only produces the vibration at the point of going from throttle to NO throttle. once coasting there is no vibration and equally there is non whilst moving forward under power.

the clonk has only been evident when coasting slowly e.g. up to a roundabout, then reapplying the power
