I'll order up some bits so I have them ready just in case/when it goes again - from what you say it's highly likely to reoccur, the existing wire certainly wasn't very flexible anymore, and I don't like waiting if I know there's a problem lurking there, even what seems to be a fairly minor one...

I also have the same issue detailed in this thread. "Adaptive Dynamics Fault". It was intermittent for a couple of days, but now remains on constantly.

I was planning on fixing the issue using the information provided but stopped when checking the condition of the wires going into the top unit. The insulation on the wires has indeed been cracked but the copper wire beneath appears not to be damaged. It also looks like my car (2009 Vogue) has the updated wiring? See pics.

I didn't want to go ahead and cut through the wires when they didn't appear to be broken. Would the fact that the outer insulation is split warrant this?

I have attached pics to show the damage. I don't have access to any IID tool or the likes.

Hopefully someone can advise me on the way forward. Or a trip to my local indy tomorrow may be in order.

The factory copper wire, and the insulation are both very brittle. Your fault may be related to the rear dampers however, looking at the state of your wires, the fronts are almost certainly broken, even though they look like the copper is not broken.

I'd bet money there is a break in the wire somewhere, either the new section, or in the old section even though you can't see it (yet)

I'm reading it now Greg. Looks like an excellent and inexpensive job you have made of it. Do you think that will be my issue looking at the wires in the pics I provided?

yes and a further look at your pics i can see a new revised wire has been spliced in. However, following the wire from the damper, there are two crimps. Undo all the tape around the original loom wire after the crimps. You may find a break here.

But your new section is damaged too so I think it's got to be re-done.

I undid as much of the old wire as possible and fitted the plug connectors n the point where they branched off the loom. If you do this all that tape would have to come off anyway. I've no idea why land rover used tape here.

An IIDTool will tell you which one is causing the fault but if you don't have an IID then just unwind the tape and have a really good look.

No joy I'm afraid. I checked along the length of both cables as best I could.
I couldn't find any damage other than what's shown in the pictures I posted.

So cut through the damaged portion used a butt connector to join and was met with the same error message.

I'm stumped. Other than a trip to my local indy is there anything else I'm missing?

What about the rear ones? Do they ever fail?

I’ve read a few posts about those failing, but the wiring doesn’t have to turn with the strut like the front ones, so not as common.

Worth a check.

I know we're in COVID times, but if there's no obvious damage then the quickest way to at least narrow down which of the 4 corners is your problem would be to get the fault codes read, whether at a garage or someone local with an IID or other suitable tool. Presumably to just read the fault codes a much cheaper code reader would suffice, and still very handy to have if you don't want/have a full on (expensive) IID type tool.

I had the adaptive dynamics fault appear on the dash, read it with diagnostics.

Was the rear offside height sensor. Changed and now all good.

All fixed now by a local garage.

Turned out to be the front offside ride height sensor.

I’ve popped my cherry on this! Bling it went! IID out. Right front (drivers). Wire had parted from clearly a previous solder job. Turret off, wires stripped and soldered. Cleared fault. Sorted
