Finally better. Looked today no more water in wheel well but still ingress. Passenger side definitely the culprit. Right at the top of the boot under the passenger side boot hinge was a huge build up of debris so I've cleared that to. There was one droplet on the inside by the electrical gubbins.
So I'm going to book it into my local indie to fit a new boot seal. I don't want to cock it up and make it worse. Can't take a chance. Just wouldn't expect this from a luxury vehicle seems very badly designed.

If I was you I would be booking it in asking him to find where its coming from rather than telling them to do a seal replacement as its not just the rear aperture seal thats the culprit in this water ingress 'common (accepted) fault'

Car is back from Ian Barclay in Wirral. Love these guys so easy to deal with and all minus the tiled show rooms and enlarged flowers and usually annoying sales men.
I felt slightly responsible for the cause of the leak given that the lower tail gate wasn't shutting properly and forming a perfect seal when the left hand side presses against the rubber. Reason I feel responsible is that the clips with the really flimsy plastic release catches on them snapped so I replaced the left hand one. Turns out I hadn't done as good a repair as I thought. The tailgate now thuds when I shut it rather than clicks.

Think I will stick to SAN administration and leave cars alone!

Well didn't take long for it to be revealed as not the permanent fix. It's still bloody leaking. I hate this car so much at times. Build quality for a luxury vehicle is . No wonder the country can't sustain any industry. poor.


Update. All sorted £122 new seal fitted.
