It's fortunate that you have an independent witness(s).

How do you know that the other driver was insured?

Always worth being alert to the role of the Motor Insurance Bureau, although your insurance company should deal with all issues for you now that you have reported it, which was a good decision:

The insurance company will likely direct you to one of their approved repairers. You don't have to accept their approved repairers and can request your own preference, although in that scenario you might lose certain benefits on your policy such as the supply of a loan car. Check your policy. LR main dealer bodyshops generally warranty body repairs for 12 months but some bodyshops will warranty their repairs for longer. I always ask beforehand.

It will most likely be Nation Wide in Moreton or Howard basfords in Ellesmere Port as you are on the Wirral. Although not sure if HB is still open. 2009 TDV8 Vogue SE - Bonatti Grey

You did the rite thing by contacting insurance. Had some experience with this - and unless the damaged caused is very minor, such as a bumper scuff, NEVER accept the other parties offer of having their mechanic mate look after it. It fact even if it is something very minor your better settling for a small cash sum and getting it fixed at ur own garage or repairing yourself.
Too often I have seen these situations descend into hell, when the mate mechanic makes a balls of repairs, which have takin 6 timed longer to accomplish than normal. Then there is a dispute over the cost of the hire car u need.....the other party of course wanting to put u into the cheapest death trap money can buy.
