Multi Car IIDtool

My wife is pestering for a Sport and I have a FFRR. Is there a combination on the new IIDtool BT which would work with both or would I have to buy 2 of them which seems a bit financially excessive ? 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

Different electronics I'm afraid . I definitely remember GAP saying it will only work with a distinct model i.e.; Full Fat 2002>206, Full Fat 2006>2009 , Disco 3or Defender etc but I think some kind of limited functionality is coming for across the board . 2008 MY Supercharged

The IID "Pro" tool would seem to be multi-vehicle from reading this. See link

I think the original IID tool was limited by year range due to the dash display options but the newer bluetooth one is more universal in which models it can be used on as it can be displayed on your phone or tablet.

Obviously it will still be limited by license to a specific model range, maybe Steve can clarify if the tool can be licensed to two vehicles or if the only solution is the dealer/trade pro version. Tom

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the answers, but we've changed our VIN lock policy to aid owners with multiple Land Rovers.

Jon, one IIDTool BT will do the trick on both a RRS and FFRR. You will need a BT as the memory chip is larger and we can install the files for all LRs on one vehicle. A regular IIDTool would only allow diagnostics on one model (2 2002-05 FFRRs, 2 RRSs, etc).

With an IIDTool BT, you can do standard diagnostics (fault read clear, live values, etc) on all LR models we cover without an additional VIN license (this is equivalent in functionality to a Hawkeye or Lynx Pro at 1/3 the price). Enhanced diagnostic functions (CCF editing, EAS calibration, etc) require additional VIN licenses - which are avail for around GBP60.

All the info is at the top of the technical section http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic22489.html ... Whistle

And, guys, please fell free to mail us at support @ gap - diagnostic dotcom with questions such as this. While axle, flashman and mzplcg would have been correct a year ago, things are changing rapidly and it is hard to keep up if you are not directly involved with all of this.

More info quoted from the thread above:

VIN Lock

With the additional functionality and vehicle coverage the IIDTool will be providing, we have decided to change the way the IIDTool VIN Lock is handled.

We are separating the diagnostic functionality into two categories: standard functions and enhanced functions.

The standard functions will include all regular diagnostic functions:

• fault read / clear
• live values
• control outputs
• service / test functions

Enhanced functions will include everything else:

• Component and system calibration (SAS, EAS)
• CCF editing
• ECU flashing
• Advanced functions including backup / restore, save profiles
• Convenience features (A new concept that will be disclosed a bit later)

All standard functions will not be VIN locked. Enhanced functions will remain VIN locked. Additional VIN licenses will continue to be available at nominal cost.

This means that, for the regular IIDTool all standard, unlocked diagnostic functions will be available for the specific model vehicle that the IIDTool covers (early 02-05 L322, D3, D4, etc.)

The standard, unlocked diagnostic functions for the IIDTool BT (Bluetooth) will cover ALL Land Rover models / years that we provide coverage for. Enhanced functions will remain VIN locked. Once again, tho, additional VIN licenses are available at nominal cost. Enhanced functions will cover all Land Rover models as well; meaning that a D3 IIDTool BT can have VIN Locked enhanced functions added for a L322 RR. Owners of 2 different models of Land Rover can have full functionality on multiple vehicles for the cost of an additional license(s).

These features will become available to all IIDTool users, present and future, with the update to firmware version 3.0*.

*The unlock for all Land Rover models for the IIDTool BT will become available at the end of May 2014.

I'd like an IID tool for the FFRR I don't yet own, currently I have a Disco 3 and it would be useful on that and then get an IID licence for the FFRR when I finally get behind the wheel.

I'd go the BT model but is there one that can do the Disco 3 AND L322?

Regards

Pete.

United Kingdom

if you read steves post it says,

''The standard, unlocked diagnostic functions for the IIDTool BT (Bluetooth) will cover ALL Land Rover models / years that we provide coverage for''

only the basic standard diagnostics will cover the whole LR range but the more advanced functions are vin locked...[only on the BT version]

but you can buy a license [if you wish] to unlock all functions on all LR models. ... - .- -.

Hi Pete,
For different LR models - your D3 and FFRR - you will need an IIDTool BT.

The BT has a larger memory chip, so we can load the firmware for all LR models on one device. The regular IIDTool has the same features, but only for one model range (D3 or D4 or L322 2002-05 or L322 06-09, etc) because the memory only suffices for one model's firmware.

HTH

Paul, you are welcome to post the source and price. We are not supposed to name a price because Britpart - our distributor - allows each reseller to set their own prices to match local conditions (taxes, import fees, etc). And they ask that we do not mention a specific dealer due to favoritism.

But you guys can... Thumbs Up
