G45 TES - looking for a car / reg plate

Long shot, but if anyone knows the whereabouts of a white Astra G45 TES - I'd like to buy the plate

I spend most of the summer in a French village called Gastes, so thought it would be fun for the car I leave there.

Can you not write to the DVLA?

If that's the case, you can't have the plate.

So what does happen to these plates? Is it only the ones they think are significant enough to sell that are kept?

I am wanting to transfer a short reg no. 3 letters, 2 numbers off an old tractor onto the FFRR but not sure if I can do this??

Have an old reg document but obviously no MOT. Any ideas?

I'll double check but as far as I know, you can't change a plate from anything other than another motor vehicle. I thin that also includes moving a plate from a motorcycle to a car too.

I didn't think to look at the tax details - good idea Stan

That's the end of that plan then.

I checked the insurance details and said not insured but doesn't say for how long, tax check is better. Anyone have link for checking tax history?

@Noddy, if you have a source of info, do you know whether I could transfer an old reg off an old car where I have the V5 but the car hasn't had an MOT for years, i.e. dry stored.

If it was registered before 1960 it needs an MOT

https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-re...ion-number

I found a partial answer to my search Very Happy

DVLA has GA57ESA for sale - just need to buy a newer car now..... and space it wrong Whistle

Or this Alistair? Same age but coming up for sale at a future auction apparently

Re the link you supplied, do you think this means that if the car was registered after 1960 an MOT is not required?

I'll look out for that one Thumbs Up

Yes - I read it as MOT is only required for pre-1960 - I guess that was the first time age related plates were introduced

There is also a requirement to be of a type requiring an MOT - do tractors require MOT's ?

I guess if you already own them, print off a form and apply - nothing to lose really

All gets a bit confusing. I thought cars pre 1960 were MOT exempt? Confused

Pre 60 is now mot exempt

Not sure how that effects the old rule of a car needing an mot for the reg to be transferred

You will not be able to transfer a VRM off an old agricultural vehicle onto a current road going vehicle.
DVLA put an end to that one some years ago . . . probably so they could grab back the I.D. and sell it on for thier profits Rolling Eyes
It'll be on the DVLA GOV website somewhere -

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
