Tracker

Does anyone get their Insurance cheaper if their car has a Tracker fitted, my insurance company told me it makes no difference whatsoever.

Not sure about other insurance companies but I know DirectLine wont honour the policy in the event of theft if a tracker is not fitted. That being said, DirectLine gave me a very competitive quote for a London postcode. Whilst I appreciate that professional thieves will probably know where the unit is and how to remove it, it's still piece of mind knowing it's there.

I got a RAC Trackster fitted for £450 (for the TM400 model) including the first year's subscription from a company called TSN Automotive. Installation took about a hour. According to the guy who did the install, the Trackster is the same unit that BMW and Land Rover use. Question If that is the case, I am happy as the Stratstone price was £599.

Research was done over an evening but it was a little confusing as a lot of webpages/prices were out of date. I asked about the Category 5 unit, the guys at TSN suggested it's not worth it unless the car is worth more than £100K and the cost is about £699 including the first year subscription.

Mine classed as mandatory as it was a brand new FFRR Vogue Crying or Very sad Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

I guess I'm in the boonies but they didn't care about a Tracker this time, even though the car was worth more.

TBH, if it got stolen by some dirty fingered reprobate (probably a druggie on ASBO's) would you really want it back after they've had their fun in it with their mates and skanky Ho's....

No, I'd rather it got torched and I just got a new one. Discovery 4 HSE
