Nothing will work - inputs and outputs are all different. There is virtually no way of making the newer screen work with an older nav (without spending much more money than it is all worth - anything is possible with enough money).

There are people who have replaced just the screen itself within the old housing - generally adding a touchscreen in the process. The big problem is, the oem nav screen is 6.5" diagonal and almost everything to be had at a decent price is 7". Then, if you've made the 7" screen fit but you want to keep the original nav (vs. going to a car pc), you have to convert the oem RGB sync-on-green signal to VGA. All relatively complex and not inexpensive.

Go to MP3car.com and search for BMW and oem screen if you're interested in pursuing any of this.

hi mate, fair comment. but i like getting my hands dirty..and if i bought a newer one i would still find tings to do.the reason for my last post is that i have now installed CARX, this must be the all time media upgrade, this is a pc based upgrade that uses the ranger existing audio system and makes it a full mp3,video,digital TV system and with no cutting or adding buttons.

Give some details on your installation, pls. Pics too, if poss. Am doing the same - have it all running on the workbench. Have to find time to do the install.

Here is a site where a guy did a touchscreen install in the oem monitor housing: http://www.tevs.eu/blog_12.html (in German - sorry - use google translations)

hi steve,
thats what i wanted, see any thing can be done, you need just know where to look.i have ad my one in the car and up and running, just the audio to sort. if you think about it, you can pay £300 + for a bmw digital tv tuner
and my set up has cost me around 150 so far..
i wanted the info on the screen as the pc outputs in vga and then you have to convert it down to compersit video as were the later screen are vga and would get a far better picture. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
