Thanks,
had my 99 p38 for seven years without any major problems ( in fact i spent more on a Vauxhall Omega in two years and the wifes Focus in 3months than i have ever spent on the Rangie in seven) although the central locking is playing up a bit now.

One of the most reliable cars I have had.

Will definately have to have a test drive in a Supercharged!

Regards

Steve

Careful Steve once you test drive you will find the p38 awkward to say the least so be prepared to spend within lets say 2 hrs Very Happy

I've had a P38 4.6 HSE for ten years, I loved the car but the L322 is just in another league and I think the design of the L322 is better, a modern take of the original classic Range Rover design.

yes I second that. I was a big fan of the p38's I owned, and nice ones too. getting the l322 v8 and first drive felt like driving a brand new car! so precise and tight. it was like comparing a willy's jeep to a BMW, because that's exactly what it is! not had a chance to go proper off road, but have had a few hints on light mud that it is intelligent in the traction control etc. might find some snow later on in the winter to check out my chunky at2 tyres i'm currently running. but don't want to show myself up, against bashed up defenders etc! and would I ever go back to a p38, no-way! it a bit like hearing a real well groomed hifi sound system, , it so good you have to invest yourself in it! I bought in at little league prices, so for me, its huge value for money, and I'm also not now the oldest car in my road, and with the personal plate, it is certainly the best!

I'd never liked the P38 because I didn't really like the exterior styling. I finally drove one about two years ago at a local used car dealership. The interior is great! Very Happy The handling was also first rate - you just point it where you want to go and it goes - no matter what. I stayed away from buying it due to a LARGE number of electrical gremlins. But it taught me how nice Range Rovers were and that they don't need to cost the earth to buy. It started me looking and now I've got a nice L322. I'd probably still have my old Honda if I'd never checked it out.

Interestingly I ended up with a p38 purely by chance sold a 2 year old xjr to buy it and never looked back a few weeks ago when it pushed me over the edge by blowing the exhaust manifold I nearly bought another p38 until a friend told me in no uncertain terms to buy the s/c - now that is what friends are for Very Happy

can I ask exactly what mods you made to the P38 engine? I have one in Tenerife and it's way too sluggish. Its a 4.6 V8 and drives like a an old Fiesta !  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

The 4.6 should pull steady all the way through the revs I would get some diagnostics on it first as really there is no point doing mods if it is not running properly and to be honest a 4.6 remapped is pretty good
