Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Hi RR2008HSE and there is nothing to worry about when jump starting any vehicle from any other vehicle.

Even with all the electronics in many new vehicles, including the RR, as long as you connect the jumper leads up the correct way, you are not going to harm a thing in either vehicle.

BTW, you do not need things like “SPIKE & SURGE PROTECTED” jumper leads. These are just a con job.

Ordinary jumper leads do not present any form of danger when used as they are supposed to be.

Another point, when just starting, always connect the jumper leads and then let the donor vehicle idle for a few minutes before trying to start the disabled vehicle.

Even if the disabled battery is stuffed, not just flat, by idling the donor vehicle for a few minutes, you put some charge back into the disabled battery.

Then when you try to start the disabled vehicle’s motor, the donor vehicle is not trying to start the motor and charge the disabled battery at the same time. This means less electrical stress on both vehicles. 2007 TDV8 Lux
