I'm rather mystified by some uneven tyre wear on my FF; Bought new Hankook set TWO years ago (275.45R20's) and they've been incredibly well wearing, having done 45,000 miles on this set. had new discs and pads all around last Summer (12) but it turns out that one of the rears became (or was originally) warped, and the pair were changed under warranty last month - very smooth again now.

check the height from the top of the wheel to the bottom of the arch, rears should be the same..

Tyre wear update; Booked car in for annual service and one of the rear wishbone bushes had completely worn out. Therefore the nearside rear wheel and tyre were effectively 'self tracking' - three wheel steer in a very slight fashion. All sorted, so now I can put the new tyres on! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Stan - PM sent |

yes the new kwikfit machine is a 'hunters' type machine, about 30k worth i'm told . it done by worshop fixed lasers reflecting off mirrors attached to all four wheels. and prints out all data before and after. my car had previously had rear and front bushes done in past, and was all over the place. took it in, and now it drives like on rails. dead straight over motorway tramlines, hands off wheel is straight too. you keep the printouts too. for reference. from previous post i assume it was 70 plus vat 83 quid. about what i remember. as all four wheels are adjusted against each other.

Well worth doing its such a pleasure having the car track in a dead straight line. |
