Job list is getting longer......

Ok, so after 12 months of happy motoring with pretty much nothing breaking......almost nothing at any rate, i have compiled a list of jobs to do before the winter sets in.

originally there was

2 x drop links (done)
track rod end (done)

which grew into

2 x droplinks (done)
outer track rod end (done)
inner track rod end (part purchased)

while i was at it i thought i would do the suspension arms too

so add

2 x lower suspension arms (part purchased)
2 x upper suspension arm ball joints (part purchased)

then the monkeys stole my roof trim

so add

1 x roof gutter trim (part purchased) which needs paint

as i was in deep conversation with Dan at this point i though i should get the gearbox serviced as well

add in

7 x fluid
1 x pan filter

when collecting them i thought i might as well get some diff oil and do them at the same time

2l diff oil

Ok so that is the parts/consumables so far..... Big Cry

but, its also going in for

respray front wings where i peeled them at lemans

new boot as there is some small rust blisters......

BUT that not it

When i was under it last night checking out the ease of gearbox oil change, i noticed that the transfer box was shiny. Censored they told me they had fixed it, which in fairness they had, but its leaking again.....

And that about rounds off the things to do list.......

Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

shouldn't have started looking for things to do really.......

was happy in my ignorance...... Rolling Eyes

have got a plan of attack sorted:

Helper monkey is collecting it tomorrow to do the wings and roof trim, he and his brother run a small workshop/paint shop and are going to do the wings, roof, front suspension and track rod.

possibly give them the diff oil too.

then next week it is off to Hunters as they are getting Chartwells to do the boot, i have decided that they can do the gearbox as they have quoted me £100 if i supply, and although it looks pretty easy, if i get it wrong it will be expensive.....

Will have to have a bit of argy bargy re the transfer box as they guarantee the repair for 12 months and it was 18 months ago that they fixed it, and I'm assuming its at least 3 hours of labour to get it out, split it, clean it and reseal... however the warranty may pay up as they did last time. Maybe ill have to pay up, Heres hoping Thumbs Up

then its MOT time...... But with whats in the pipeline it should pass... Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

job list is now shorter

MOT done
4Wheel Align done
2 x Lower arms done
2 x upper ball joints done
Inner Tie rod Done
Front wings repainted
mirror caps repainted
Front diff oil changed
rear diff oil changed
roof trim painted and fitted

just have

Gearbox service
New Boot
Reseal Transfer Box

left to go, and its in for that stuff next week Thumbs Up

Glad to have it back for the weekend which has meant I can MOT it, even if it is off again on Monday for another week to the MD to do the Boot, fix their failed reseal of the Transfer box and do the Gearbox service (lab only £100). It should be like a new car when i actually get to drive it Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Car is back Thumbs Up

gearbox oil changed Thumbs Up drives like a different car, smoother and a whole lot less jerky during the first change after setting off.

transfer box not done Big Cry the warranty provider said no Censored and the MD wouldn't cover the whole cost as it was over 18 months since it was done last, which i suppose is fair enough as they only have a 12 month guarantee..... will knock me 25% off the labour (pretty much labour only in any case).....Hmmm.

Anyone know what the workshop time should be in the book to remove/strip/reseal and refit a box? they are quoting about 4 hours.

Anyway its here for now as they can't fit it in for another fortnight, so i shall be driving it some.

Oh and they did put me a new tailgate on as well. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ok. It's all done!

So that is everything Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Though I Have just noticed that the auto setting on the AC seems to just get the car very hot even on 18-19deg, am going to try and give the little vent on the temp control panel a blow out with Compressed air, though the panel is only 2 years old...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Went well and the labour was 95+vat. Slightly smoother than before on the 2-3 shift so worth it and won't need doing again for another 60k Thumbs Up

The trans box took 4hours and cost me a 400 notes as they wouldn't cover it. Right royal pita! Would have got an Indy to do it but our local is booked solid and cost pretty much the same as the md! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Took it to have the tracking done this morning at F1, £30 on the hawk eye again. just the toe out this time and the camber seems to have sorted itself out and is reading ok at the moment, nice straight wheel and a printout showing all green to go in the file.

battery struggled a bit this morning though so off to ECP for an 020.

Alternator charge reads 14.8v with all the toys on after it has done its initial charge of the battery from starting up and voltage is constant with revs, before it would increase with engine speed slightly (have seen 17v on the 753 display) and drop off to 11.5v under load, so happy days.

Just got to make the 020 fit........ Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
