Anyone ever bought their FF via an auction? Have had a look around to see whats passing through but can't find many auction houses with FFRR's.

I bought my very first L322 (2002 TD6 HSE) in 2009 from Brightwells Auctions in leominster. 5 previous owners, no FSH. Bought it unseen, unopened, untried and unstarted. Not the best way to buy I will admit but a friend who was a motor dealer saw it and thought it was a goodie.

I had it for nearly 4 years and it never had anything go wrong (after I replaced the slow EAS pump with another used for £150). Had 76,000 miles on purchase and nearly 100k on selling to a friend. Had never towed and was factory spec. The most comfortable, relaxing drive I have ever had. Used to cabby down to the Alps in France and Austria a couple of times a year with not an issue and 28 MPG!!

However, it was a rarity I think! If buying for auction, arrive there early and get all over the car, with a checklist if poss. however you do normally have a period of grace in which to return the car after the end of the sale (some 2-4 hrs in Brightwell's case) if there is something wrong (a lot failed on the steering rack collapsing, common fault).

Definitely worth a punt! If you look at the websites, they should give prices achieved by model so you know roughly what to aim for adn how much to pay.

Where do you think dealers (not all) get their stock from?

Just had a look at BCA, some ok looking FF's in their catalogues, some with LRFSH. Will probably take a day off and go to an auction to see what they're making to see if I have the b@lls to commit to bidding. Can't see previous sale prices on their site although I think Manheim auctions show winning bids after auction.

Not many FFrr's for sale at the moment obviously!
