If its a puppy you are picking up I would suggest purchasing a small / medium folding dog cage from a pet store for the journey, this then can be used for the puppy to sleep in at night, something like this, http://www.ebay.com/bhp/36-folding-dog-crate |

I have a few dogs so looking for a puppy crate, for transprt only, the others travel fine in the boot with standard LR mesh thingy,
