I have run out with the FFRR before the light came on with the gauge being pretty low. Range was still OK, I was actually on the way to the petrol station when it stopped. Must have been the 1/4 issue where the pump just failed (as it was way below 1/4 for a few days).

After the pump replacement I haven't been close to the light but have been below 1/4 (actually today with 127 km range when I filled up).

I am not planning to go near the light ever again without a jerrycan in the back Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Well I'm here again!
I have a gallon in a can in the boot!
My distance to empty gave me zero on the way home tonight and I bottled it as it was a busy A38 and the last place I wanted to run out was there!
I'm now showing 15 miles to empty and I have 30 miles to go in the morning!
I will report back tomorrow

It doesn't do them any good letting the tank run dry

Yes I know that, but what is the point of a gauge or device being so inaccurate?

I've got to know!

The point if the gauge whether it's accurate or not is to give a rough indication as to whether or not you need fuel before you embark on your epic journey.

Have you ever seen the amount of muck that gets drawn out of the tank and into the filters when the pump draws up the last few drops of fuel? Not recommended...

How does rubbish get into the tank with a modern filler system? I have run mine to --- plenty of times and it's never stuttered, been lumpy or anything. I think the whole 'there's crap in the bottom' argument was valid 20 years ago, but not now. Land Rover Addict

I usually fill up as soon as the light comes on.

Full tank or empty tank, it makes not one jot of a difference, they all draw/ feed from the bottom and low fuel level does not draw any more poo into the fuel system than a full tank. Running a tank low does absolutely no harm at all unless you run out. Any sediment is almost immediatly pulled into the system from the bottom feed whether the tank is full or empty.

Joker - why not? I hate getting out to fill up. I see no point in filling up if there's still fuel in it.... Land Rover Addict
