I was out today in the FFRR and went to put the driver side window down but nothing happened. I checked fuse 11 was ok, which it was. The passenger side window would operate from the driver side but did from the passenger side switch, both rear windows worked fine so I thought the switch must be faulty for the fronts only.

I removed the door card and had a look at the rather large switch and called Dan. A new switch was £142.00 so I decided to take the switch apart to see if it was repairable. Upon opening it I discovered a lot of corrosion on 3 of the terminals of the circuit board which is hardly surprising when you think that the position of the switch means every time it rains and you open the door the switch will get wet. With a small stiff brush and a cocktail stick I removed the corrosion and cleaned everything up, put it all back together and it works perfectly. I do like a cheap fix.

One of the scary things in modern garages is that we all seem to be fitters a lot of the time & it is still good to actually repair a component. But sadly often the labour outweighs the cost of the part, but it is a nice feeling to actually fix some thing  Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!!
