Freakin' Utiliy Companies!!!

What is it with these peeps - trying to p Censored ss customers off before they even get started Big Cry

SWMBO decided to switch supplier from Npower to Scottish Power. We then get an email saying switch over is nearly complete but I have to submit a meter reading - "click this link" kind of thing.

Of I go, read meter and enter it into the wee boxes. Click "ENTER" - a green banner comes up informing me something went wrong.

Again and again over 24hrs the same thing happens. So, I dug out a contact number, went through the "press for for stupid call handler / press 2 for Indian call centre / press 3 for the fog platting department"!!

Eventually got to speak to an actual person (with a Scottish lilt) who informed me the system wouldn't allow me to enter the reading as it was my first one Shocked Shocked Shocked

So, Scottish Power want your business but in no way are they prepared to help by either sorting their systems out or at the very least putting a wee note on the website warning of this problem and giving a number to ring Big Cry

Is there such a thing as a utility company that's on the ball???

Think that's bad. I've just had an estimated bill fro my late Mother. She died over a year ago and I paid the final bill from her estate. It was even addressed to "The Executor of Mrs...."

Utter morons. Crap systems. Mercenary leadership. All makes for a very poor customer experience.

Ovo. Been with them for years. Real people in a UK call centre, simple online systems for submitting readings and getting statements, and they pay you 3% interest if you're in credit. Graham

when my father died, the electricity bill was paid up etc, and i had the correspondance redirected to my place, however, they didnt and poked plenty of new bills through the not in use letterbox (somehow) and then let themselves in, and removed the main fuse, (to cut me off!) and put a new lock in, with a big sticker saying pay us up to date to get the new keys! plus the locksmith fee!
i said i should have taken it up with bbc watchdog, but they asked me to reconsider. It was too much in a time where i had to deal with my dad's stuff and this going on etc. i might have found myself getting into trouble etc. then they turned up with...the wrong type of fuse! i was going to charge them for a day's work i missed waiting around for them!

They are all rubbish.

I say all, the only one I get on with is EOn, but I have a developer account, so the treat me differently, have been trying to get rid of an account from the co-op on a house which was demolished a year ago, and the won't close the account! Can't get anyone bar a moron to speak to, finally got a supervisor to deal with it that was 5 months ago. It still hasn't been done! Given up now. Looking at the account I'm £68 in credit, so they won't bill me but won't refund the difference either!!!

Was all done properly from my side, but they are so incompetent its beyond belief. If it's not an option on a tick list then they can't deal with it! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ah, the joys of utility switching. We switched from SSE to Scottish Power in July 2014. It took 6 months to 'complete' the switch, during which time we paid for no electric or gas (but were still supplied). They eventually started taking payment, but for gas only. We then got to the end of our tariff in July this year so asked to switch to a new, cheaper one. We haven't paid for gas or electric since.

Our house has 3 electric meters and 2 gas, and that appears to be more than the SP system can cope with. Meanwhile, I've banked over £2k's worth of payments in the last 15 months. I know they will catch up eventually, but am enjoying seeing the money build up.
