L405 - It's everywhere

When the L405 was launched, my first impression was I hated it, I thought that LR had totally blown it!

But I've just spent a few days in London and L405s are everywhere you look, I open the paper and Prince Andrew is in one, I turn on the TV and the CEO of Iceland is driving one. It's growing me on me a lot, probably just because it's just so common now.

I'm trying to convince myself that my FF L322 (and I have two at the moment!) is a classic shape but I can't help but think that it's looking seriously dated and out of its depth in the company of the L405 and the new Sport.

Am I alone?! 2006 4.2 SC

No question (or surprise, given it's 11 years newer) that the L405 is more modern, but it's certainly not as dignified.

I have been surprised at how many new Sports I've seen - seem to be loads of them around given how recently they were launched.

Yes, the 322 is an old square box, looks dated and .....I happen to like old square boxes with character...

New Sport looks like an e-Poke on steroids. L405 is nice enough, growing on me bit by bit, but still can't get my head round the price tag.

Looking to see how they price the 2015 Disco but not holding my breath for anything approaching reasonable. A bit like the F type Jag. 70-something clap for the 3 litre and even more for the 5 litre. If they're aiming at Boxster territory it needs to be 35 grand cheaper.

The lunatics have taken over the pricing asylum at JLR sadly.

F-Type is surely more of a 911 competitor.

The L405 has really grown on me as well. I think the colour has a lot to do with it, as in some colours really bring out the best of the shape.
The new price is ridiculous. But they seem to sell so many!!
I really enjoyed driving the new sport, so much so that I would definitely have one.
Still, nothing wrong with the L322, I am a huge fan of it. Previously..

I guess it's just evolution and all that............

I didn't ever like the old Sport, it was so clearly a Disco in a frock and the wheelbase meant that the rear wheel was in the wrong place so it had a huge rear overhang to compensate - I see that LR admit that now! I personally think the new Sport looks fabulous, better than the L405 in my opinion.

I've never been much of an Evoque fan either but saw a black 5 door with big anthracite wheels on at the local retail park and it looked incredibly desirable.

There's no doubt that LR are pumping out really desirable product these days, as said already though, the prices are in cloud cuckoo land! That said, I have never ever seen so many on the road - What recession?!

10 years from now when the L405 is worth 10% of it's original value and has a spare wheel well of rain water and a f Censored ed EAS pump and I may be in the running again! 2006 4.2 SC

I agree that the pricing is absurd, but given the waiting lists you have to admit they've got it right?

List price isn't quite so relevant given that 9 out of 10 will be on tick, same as everything else.

^^ very true!

Most new cars are these days imho, still you have to have a pretty high disposable income to afford one on tick.

Personally even if i could afford one, which i cant, even on tick, i could never stomach the plummeting value after 3 years, i much prefer a cash deal on a 4 year old car with a more stable depreciation rate Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I really like the L405 and the new Sport, the only thing I don't like about the new Sport is it looks a bit, I suppose weedy is the right word from the back, it looks like an Evoque but overall the car is stunning, same goes for the L405.
Is the L322 dated?, well a little, it's evolution but I don;t think the L322 looks that dated really, in the same way the Mk1 X5 doesn't, they still are nice cars.
