'Best' is very subjective and you're likely to get different opinions...... And in reality, very few people who have ever run many different brands who are able to properly judge. Except maybe Gaz as he has such a high turnover of vehicles, but then again, is unlikely to drive them hard enough to do a proper test.

Thanks, I read very good reports on Vreds Wintrac Extreme on this and other forums so will probably go for those as well. For summer I thought about Michelin or Pirelli, I think Michelin will be more comfortable, do you have even treadwear on the Michelins, what's the mileage you are doing on them? |

I've never tracked the mileage - and swapping winter/summer doesn't help.

You could do worse than consider Uniroyal Rainsport2 XL... They do them in 20" too and they can be had for a good price if in stock. They are not yet on the RR as it came with 4 brand new tyres but having done a lot of research a couple of years ago, they ticked many boxes and were highly rated. They exceeded expectations, were superb all round, looked good on any wheel and excelled in the wet (never used them off road).

Have been quoted for a set of the latest Michelin Latitude Alpin 2 (2nd generation that came out in 2012 to replace the first gen Alpin). Apparently they're very good winter tyres. |

I just ordered a set of new-gen Michelin Alpin Latitude 2, will fit them in November/December to go to the Alps. |

I bought a set of Hankook tyres in summer 2011, they have now done 45,000 miles, have been through two full UK winters and obviously the Summers too. never had a problem, though they're getting low now. they were considerably cheaper than Mich's and Pirelli's and the like at the time, and I would not hesitate to buy and use the same again. 275.45R20's. |

Pirelli's all year - 19's though, would that make a difference?.

I worked on the basis of Hankook being the sole tyre supplier for the DTM (German Touring Car) championship, if it was good enough for them, it was for me too, though obviously not the same compounds !!!http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif |

I had a set of Michelin Diamaris on the TDV8 and found these great for even tyre wear, road holding and grip. If they weren't so damned expensive I'd have them again. Discovery 4 HSE
