OK well that's a good point, compared to the rest of the LR line up and other (more modern) competitors it IS a low volume.

However, compare to other "niche" products (such as the Jaguar range except the XF) and it's strong.

It's a handbuilt product, not robotised or developed for lean manufacturing. From a production perspective it's a dinosaur, but one which they have a waiting list for, even at 16k+ built a year.

^ They don't need to sell the tooling to India, Stan - they own it already Whistle

As for the "hand built" aspect, the level of preparation on the new one I had was hilarious. The 90 had the rear bulkhead - as they all did back then - fastened in by rivets. Surplus rivets dropped during build had not even been swept/hoovered out prior to painting ! I could have easily identified as my car in it's component form from the unique way it had been prepared at the factory . . .

Looking at the sales figures of competitive utility vehicles above, India or China is exactly where they should be built - if JLR want to sell them in those markets. Can't see anything wrong with that ?

If they were to build Range Rovers over there, now that would be a different story altogether !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
