How long before yours flakes?

Following on from the below 'black backside' thread, just wondered, after re-painting the rear backbox, how long before bits of 'silver' start shining through. I've done some small patch repairs on ours today to the odd small area here and there (no hassle/ dead easy). Wondering though if my prep several months ago was wrong or if it's just an ongoing area to maintain, should you want a black one?

Cheers Thumbs Up

contrary to how other members [and you Wink ] prepare the 'box' , i just spray some heat resistant paint on regardless of how dirty it is ...for some reason my paint has stayed on... ... - .- -.

^ As above the heat keeps them clean enough to paint direct. I just spray on thin coat let dry five minutes and do again.

NEVER had one flake and my blue car was done 9 months ago. (ZERO preparation like Stan)

@Gary - Told you I'd make an erse of it Embarassed

@Stan - Nice wheels btw (wonder if someone would sell me a set of 2010MY SC wheels for what you paid Thud

@Adam - Bow down Ner Ner

Thanks for quick replies chaps... And I am using Hammerite high heat paint whereas I think in Gary's case it wasn't high heat by definition... And so the lads at Halfords directed me to the more expensive Hammerite (thinking back, the shop did have big windows!) Banging Head

In fairness, I've done a good job of the box, it's just...

I'll buy the exact stuff Gary uses, cheers Thumbs Up
