I plan on contacting someone who needs spares for a running engine and give the stuff to them.

From a personal point of view, I greatly appreciate you would consider donating the innards to keep a current project in spares, but would ask you seriously consider taking the time to think about donating the entire engine to a project you consider may benefit more. Perhaps a restoration in progress or one needing spare engines to keep something ariworthy. You could require that the complete engine is kept intact and restored rather than broken. Perhaps your legacy may be indicated in the documentation.

It's likely that there are very few serviceable parts on the engine. It was set fire to by vandals. It was sat in a museum for decades - out in the open. The previous owner was a retired scientist from the nuclear industry (a very smart guy) who had a working Rolls Royce Nene jet engine in his shed. He gave up trying to turn it into a working engine. Its only real use is to exhibit it, which is what I plan to do, ablate in my own house. |
