Trying to book my autumn holiday

Must be warm. Beach, pool, pref some water sports, peaceful and relaxing but not dead.

Was thinking somewhere in the Indian Ocean or Far East. Would quite like to go sailing again.

Don't want to stop at Dubai.

Suggestions welcome.

Otherwise I could volunteer to help Umfemweh bring water to her village, but I've been doing enough construction at home.

Sorry Will, but I just don't want to do middle east/north africa. I know people have a great time there but I did it as a kid and just don't fancy going back.

I'm sure you'll have a great time and certainly part of you will come back safely - maybe with a ransome demand. Laughing

I can highly recommend Cancun (or Playa del Carmen) for the quality of the hotels, fabulous weather and an amazing combination of fun/chill/quality that you do not get elsewhere. I have/do holiday's all over the world and this is my favourite holiday spot. Food is great too.

I was there at Easter....

Lots of American girls holiday here...

What month you thinking ?

Have you considered South Africa? Warms up lovely towards end of year?

I've been 3 times, aside from great food & wine, my trips included horseback riding through wine lands, sky diving and dived with Great Whites ... Very Happy

Maldives beautiful, ESP if you're a diver, but a little quiet.

Will edit my posts as I recount my travels pre-kids Big Cry Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Cancun has this reputation for spring break coeds chanting USA, USA, or alternatively TandA, TandA. Really surprised to find out it's not. I shall investigate.

I've also thought about South Africa, so good suggestion. Will think harder.

I've been to the Maldives and loved it, but it is a bit quiet. Last time I was with a girlfriend but this time I'm going alone so I need a bit more life. Also there's a load of political stuff going on at the moment. An alternative is the Seychelles but the sharks eat all the tourists.

Hmm, thanks for the recommendations! Thumbs Up

Cancun is surprisingly civilised and hotels are quite upmarket.

I was there for ten days in April and did not see any chanting coeds mores the pity.

Also met my wife there 20 years ago!

Weather is perfect, beaches perfect, hotels perfect, food perfect, night-life perfect - if you want it.

I have holiday'd in most of the Caribbean islands and I prefer the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

Literally down the coast from cancun is Playa Carmen, and Tulum etc

Get same beaches and weather , bit of culture
(Eg Mayan Ruins) but maybe less students?

Dive the freshwater "cenotes" - Google them Thumbs Up Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

^ Yes I was really referring to whole of the Caribbean Coastal Resorts. They are all really very nice indeed. Chichen Itza & Tulum are both worth the "Day Trip" visit and as above there are fantastic sites both Ocean, Lagoon & caves....

PS: Cancun cannot be ignored though.
