TD6 Remap advice

I'm currently on the hunt for a TD6 and just wanted some recommendations for a remap in the SE or London?, it's probably going to be the first thing I do when I buy one as I know what the TD6 in standard tune is like, a bit more torque and power and improved economy is what I want, I'm not looking for huge BHP gains just improved drivability, I did consider JE Engineering but their Miles away.

I drove a mapped TD6, it made a more relaxed drive...think it was running around 200bhp but that meant for less engine stress and less gear changing...which I guess you'd be after ?

The map was a pretty standard install done by a generic tuning firm and guy said he had been happy with it.. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Blank the EGR, remove the viscous fan, turn off the A/C, fit road tyres, and enjoy 30mpg + Thumbs Up .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

You're very wrong, the 55 Kompressor engine regularly returns 50 MPG Razz .

In honesty I want a bit more power out of a TD6 as I've driven one a fair bit in the past and know in standard form they are a bit lacking, what I meant more is I don't want huge gains, I know some people claim to take them to 240 ish BHP which isn't what I'm after, 210 BHP and more torgue for every day driving would be what I want, plus it does usually help with the fuel economy too.

Now I'm towing a 26ft caravan on a regular basis, I'd like more torque. It pulls fine on flat but you can tell it's struggling very slightly on hills.
I was getting 23.5 mpg from Cornwall yesterday at a steady 55. Not bad

I've had my td6 since march, I've been thinking lately I should of bought the petrol one instead not that I've driven one mind, I removed the egr. My mpg is 23.3 over more than 1000 miles!! All sorts of driving inc a bit of towing

Ive considered getting mine done a few times but Im worried that I will shred the gearbox Confused

I get good mpg but the occasional 'elastic band' gear changes on good runs can annoy me which I have read remapping gets rid off.

Im still undecided as its a £2500 fix if it blows the autobox Whistle

I understand that the common gearbox failure is not torque related and is caused by the valve body being made of an alloy that is softer than normal.

Others on here know much more than me about the inner workings of the gearboxes though. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I had my TD6 and my TDV8 remapped by JE Engineering and they showed no signs of gearbox issues due to the increased torque or power.

They key thing is that JE only remap the engine within the capabilities of the drive-train, not beyond, hence they've had no issues. Discovery 4 HSE

JE have very good reputation indeed. I had great experiences with the BAS Box from Bell Auto Services. Thumbs Up
It offers great dedicated tunes with the capability to remap your Rangie and switch from the standard to tuned files at will. (see info here : http://bellautoservices.co.uk/bas-remap-interface/)

Also you can keep it from your current LR to your next Wink

However, before buying a TD6 (BT,DT kept it only 3 months...) I would really suggest to try a TDV8 AND a 4.4L V8

The 3.6L TDV8 is lovely to drive, especially tune via said box, but more expensive to buy than a TD6.

The 4.4L petrol V8 is about a cheap as a Td6 BUT offers much better power figures and driving pleasure (mpg figures is poor though... Whistle )

Having own each variant of L322, I would rate the Td6 engine as the least pleasant one, by far... l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
