England 2002 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
Suspension failure and HDC warning

Just fitted new discs and pads all round on my TD6 Vogue - the rears were a real pain to remove due to corrosion jamming against the hand brake shoes ! After everything was fitted I checked the fluid level in the brake resevoir and it was leaking over the top of the filler cap (I had removed the top before hand and wrapped a towel around in case this happened). Anyway - to soak up and remove the excess fluid i had to unclip the electrical connection on the cap - did this and removed said excess fluid to the correct mark with the cap refitted.Connected the electrical plug back up and tokk the car for a test drive to ensure the brakes etc were ok. Imediately had the check brake fluid warning light lit along with suspension failed and locked in normal height and the dreaded HDC failure warning displayed, Tried turning engine off and on again with no effect. Upon rechecking the electrical connector on the brake fluid reservoir all was ok , along with the fluid level , so I unplugged the connector and plugged it back in again and all warnings cleared, It would seem there is a lot 'tied in' with the brake fluid reservoir so maybe worh a look at when drivers experience the other two faults I had ! Wink

This sounds like an ABS sensor issue. The brake system (HDC is a functionality of that) is likely getting an ABS sensor fault (sensor, connector or cable got damaged during the work ?) and going all out shouting: "I'm broken".

Try a code read to see if a particular sensor shows up, check the cabling and sensor seating etc. Hopefully it is just a sensor being dislodged or moved or a connector that came out a bit etc. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks for the reply but when I disconnected and reconnected the resevoir sensor everything came back to normal. Tried to change the brake shoes for the handbrake today but snapped the top retaining spring trying to get it back into place ! Ordered on for Friday delivery and off to my local garage to let them have the fun of changing them ! For now one side has no nadbrake parts in so cannot use the handbrake !
Does anyone have any tips for fitting the top and bottom springs ?
