Scam adverts!!

So, how come autotrader can't spot scam adverts. If you search any marque on autotrader and list the results in price order, the cheapest one's are almost always scams. They are really easy to spot because all of them are really expensive cars with really low prices and emails emblazened on the ad.

Seriously, you can try this yourself. Do a search on autotrader and just put the words "dot com" in the keywords section. It brings up 37 scam adverts from people trying to fleece innocent members of the public. They all say that their phones aren't working and you have to use the email address (even though autotrader don't allow email addresses). To avoid detection they spell the email address out rather than using '@' or '.'

How does this make them avoid detection Evil or Very Mad I'm sure if autotrader (and they arent the only offender) wanted to remove these ads they could do.

I appreciate that you would have to be mad to part with your cash before even seeing the car, but greedy people are desperate to buy a 2007 RR TDV8 for 7k (actually on there now) and are prepared to risk a few grand as deposit whilst the buyer "ships" it back from his holiday home in Spain.

We need to get Esther Rantzen back on the telly to take these scammers to task!!

Scam adverts have always been around in one for or another. Unfortunately it's the nation's common sense levels that are decreasing!

Agreed, it's shocking the number of people that can't spot these and are prepared to send large amount of cash on trust. Schoolboy error!

I know, it's almost laughable that they seem happy to assist thieves in this way. Like Noddy says, they don't give a toss so long as the stolen credit card that paid for that ad, goes through....
