VRN HPI search data security

Am selling my Merc CLK convertible at the moment and have been asked to give VRN for check by a potential buyer. (pics have the number obliterated)

Does giving the VRN mean they can access details of where the registered address (location) of vehicle is? Just thinking cos that means they could "pop" by and help themselves without paying?

In a word, no.

They cannot find out where you live from an HPI check - HPI don't have that info. The only database with ownership details is the DVLA - even the police use that one.
The only way you can apply for those details from DVLA is if you have "just cause" to the information. This costs money and takes time. That's how parking firms get the info.

If the potential buyer appears genuine, why wouldn't you give them the number ? - look at it from their perspective.

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
